On Spring Break 2009 the EDGE 100 Fellows “got on the bus”! We started the morning with breakfast then climbed on to a comfy charter bus and began our journey to get some college exposure. While in transit, we watched movies, slept, joked and heard from our seniors about their college prep process, internships, scholarship awards and colleges of choice. With the help of our EDGE mom/volunteers we got to see the sights, feel the atmosphere and walk the grounds on the Texas A & M (College Station) campus then pile on to the bus to visit Baylor University. At Baylor, we were treated to a discussion from the student’s perspective by members of the National Pan Hellenic Council.
We made it home, tired but inspired. Many thanks to our Mom Volunteers: Cookie Lee and Mattie Jones. They were amazing! We would like to thank Devontranette Hill, former EDGE student and current college student for her support during the trip as well. Both Texas A & M and Baylor staff were excellent in making our visits memorable. They went out of their way to make special provisions for us. THANK YOU.
A special thanks goes to Continental Transport for providing excellent transport services.
