The Intern Experience
The summer of 2009 brought an unexpected surprise of 7 interns to the Education Department. It is safe to say that this was an unforgettable summer and one of the best ever! The interns were tasked with creating and running a business on their own. The proceeds of the business was to fund the start-up expenses of a major community event. The high-school aged interns pulled this momentous task off with flying colors!

Community Family Reunion
The Community Family Reunion brought together churches, businesses and residents in the 75216 community for a symbolic statement of that "we are a strong, progressive family community." The event was designed and spearheaded by 7 high school and 1 one college intern. The event included a Walk & Rally for change, a "Game Royale" spades and domino tournament, and a "Swish" basketball tournament.

Project Ready Dallas is Here!
Project Ready Dallas is here! Project Ready Dallas is part of a National Urban League movement to create clear pathways to college for current 9th and 10th grade high school students. The Dallas chapter of Project Ready is preparing for a great 2009-2010 program year. The summer orienation was held on July 18 to talk to parents, students and volunteers about what to expect from the program. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2009 - 2010 program year.

Achievement Matters Awards Luncheon
The 2009 Achievement Matters Awards Luncheon was an overwhelming success! The event, held at the Dallas Convention Center, recognized outstanding youth and adult program participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made the 2008-2009 program year phenomenal. This event was also significant as it served to welcome our National Urban League president Marc Morial to Dallas for NUL's Economic Empowerment tour.
